Gaslight Village retail reaches 100% lease-up as momentum builds for next phase of redevelopment
New national specialty brand and locally owned café reinforce strong demand for East Grand Rapids’ signature district
Grand Rapids, Mich. (December 18, 2025) – Gaslight Investors, the local development group that led the transformation of a key section of the core commercial district in Gaslight Village, announced today that all ground-floor retail space in its existing Gaslight Village development is now fully leased. The milestone comes as the group prepares for the next phase of redevelopment, reflecting strong market demand and growing excitement for the district’s continued evolution.
The final spaces were leased by two new tenants: FP Movement, a nationally recognized specialty activewear brand opening in early 2026, and Molly’s Café & Deli, a locally owned neighborhood café led by pastry chef Nichole Achram that opened in November. Together, the new tenants underscore Gaslight Investors’ commitment to curating a mix of sought-after national retailers and best-in-class local businesses.
“It has been incredibly rewarding to see the continued growth and energy in Gaslight Village,” said Gaslight Investors Managing Partner, Scott Wierda. “Reaching 100% retail occupancy is a meaningful moment for the district, and bringing in a brand like FP Movement reinforces the strength of this market and the vision we’ve been building toward. At the same time, we’re equally proud to welcome Molly’s Café & Deli — a neighborhood-driven concept that adds warmth and everyday vibrancy to this community hub. This is exactly the kind of balance we believe makes Gaslight Village so special.”
Established in 2012 as a category of Free People, FP Movement has been at the forefront of redefining activewear, introducing hike, run, racquet, studio and ski performance-ready styles that bridge the gap between fashion and function. In 2020, FP Movement emerged as an independent brand, opening its first standalone store in Los Angeles. The brand currently has 56 stores nationwide, offers online shopping at fpmovement.com, and collaborates with wholesale partners such as DICK’S Sporting Goods and independent fitness studios.
Wierda noted that the arrival of FP Movement evokes a similar milestone from the early days of another project he helped lead: the transformation of Breton Village. “More than 20 years ago, Breton Village took a major step forward when we secured Anthropologie, another of URBN’s flagship brands, and we saw how that signaled what was possible,” he said. “We believe FP Movement represents a similar moment for Gaslight Village. It shows that top-tier specialty retailers see tremendous opportunity here and will join other existing strong national specialty retailers like LoveSac and Athleta who have been a part of the Gaslight Village development for many years.”
FP Movement’s Gaslight Village store will occupy approximately 2,400 square feet and is expected to open in late January. Molly’s Café & Deli operates a 1,500-square-foot space and features a menu of sandwiches, salads, baked goods, and café offerings.
“This level of demand tells us that people want to be part of what’s coming next,” Wierda added. “As we advance the next phase of redevelopment, we’re focused on bringing in the right mix of retailers and restaurants to serve the community. Gaslight Village continues to evolve in ways that reflect both the character of this neighborhood and the interest we’re seeing from tenants.”
More information about the forthcoming redevelopment phase will be shared as plans advance.
